* Dick Anderson entered the race second in points. A month earlier, Anderson had been hurt in a post-race incident at Toledo Speedway. Dave Mader, III had driven for Anderson in relief after the first caution in the previous race, finishing 9th and allowing Anderson to keep the title race close. But a hard practice crash both KOed Anderson and his car for the event, all but assuring the title to Gosselin.
