In December 2018, our site backfilled the history of this event into our database. A few important notes:

  • There was a AAA-sanctioned Champ Car race at the IN Fairgrounds in September 1946 that is sometimes lumped in with the Hoosier Hundred history. This event was never referred to as the "Hoosier Hundred" and its presence in the official winners list has come and gone throughout the years. We did not include it as a Hoosier Hundred on our site since it has been excluded in official literature more often than not, including at the time of the completion of this project.
  • This ran as a USAC Champ Car race until 1971, when it switched over to Silver Crown. Silver Crown has been a hybrid between a Champ Car and a sprint car for most of its history, but as Silver Crown (as of 2020) is more closely Sprint, we consider this event as a Sprint race even if it did not start out that way.
  • In 1996, the Hoosier Hundred was cancelled but USAC and event promoters retroactively considered the "Hulman Hundred" ran in May of that year as an official Hoosier Hundred running. The event ran as the "Hulman Hoosier Hundred" until 2002 when the event was reborn solely as the Hoosier Hundred.
  • The event was rained out in 2007, 2008, and 2017.
  • 2019 was initially scheduled to be the final event at the Fairgrounds, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, planned construction at the Fairgrounds was delayed and the 2020 running became the final event at that facility
