Our site has covered this tour since its inaugural event. The history of this series is a bit confusing - Prior to 2018, there was a series called the Kumho Tyre Australian V8 Touring Car Series. At the start of 2019, it licensed its name and cars to be part of the Race Australia Consolidated Enterprises circuit, the same series that promotes Supercars and Super2 Series (hence, Super3, which was to be considered the bottom wrung of the ladder. It ran under RAC guidance through 2022 without incident. After 2022, the Kumho V8 group decided to move back to their own independent promotion. RAC wanted to keep Super3 as a support class within Super2. As such, there are now two competing series that should be considered the same series for 2019-2022. As such, our site considers Super3 to begin in 2018 to present, as that is the first year RAC had any interest in Super3. That said, we also consider 2019-2022 part of the continuous (2008-present) Kumho Tyre Australian V8 Touring Car Series, a statistically different series. |
